What is Parks Passport?
- Parks Passport is an iPhone app that gives you a digital version of the national park passport book. Every National Park Service site has its own letterpress-style stamp, and you collect them as you visit — building a permanent record of everywhere you have been.
How much does Parks Passport cost?
- The app is free to download, and the 63 National Parks are always free to stamp. A single in-app purchase, the Stamp Pack: US Parks, unlocks stamps for every remaining National Park Service site. There is no subscription.
Do I have to be at the park to collect a stamp?
- No. You can search for any park and mark it visited from anywhere, including backdating a trip you took years ago. If you are at the park, you can also stamp by location, which fills in the date and place for you. Location access is optional and the app works fully without it.
Is Parks Passport affiliated with the National Park Service?
- No. Parks Passport is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. National Park Service or any government agency. It does not replace the physical cancellation stamps you collect at visitor centers.
How many parks can I collect?
- Parks Passport covers 474 places: every National Park Service unit plus the affiliated areas the Park Service lists alongside them. That includes national parks, monuments, historic sites, battlefields, seashores, trails and wild rivers. The Park Service counts 433 official units on its own; the extra sites here are affiliated areas.
Can I add visits from before I downloaded the app?
- Yes. Every stamp can be dated, so you can go back and fill in trips from any point in your life. Your passport is meant to be a record of everywhere you have been, not only where you go after installing the app.
What data does Parks Passport collect?
- None. There is no account to create, no analytics, and no third-party trackers. Your stamp collection is stored in your own private iCloud database, which means we cannot see it. The full details are in the privacy policy.
What happens to my stamps if I lose my phone?
- Your collection syncs through your private iCloud database, so signing in to iCloud on a new iPhone restores it. Because the data lives in your iCloud account rather than on our servers, it is yours and it survives the device.
Is there an Android version?
- Not at the moment. Parks Passport is an iPhone app, built around iCloud sync and iOS location services. There is no Android version and no web version planned right now.
Where do I download Parks Passport?
- On the App Store, free, for iPhone. Every "Download on the App Store" button on this site opens the listing directly. The National Parks are free to stamp; the Stamp Pack: US Parks in-app purchase unlocks the remaining units.
